The process of Vodafone overtaking Kabel Deutschland is formally completed. The British mobile cell giant now owns 76,57% of Germany’s largest cable TV provider, as declared at the press conference held this Monday in London and Munich.
The merging process, however, will take more time, though spokespeople of both sides did not specify how much longer negotiations would go on. What is certain is that this deal is giving Vodafone the control of Kabel Deutschland’s decisions and ending the corporate governance of Munich. Whether Kabel Deutschland will continue to be on the stock market, or Vodafone will buy more assets, are yet to be decided.
Kabel Deutschland is not solely a TV content provider, it can also be used as a landline telephone and internet connection. Through its subsidiary company, Vodafone aims to offer its clients landline, mobile line, broadband and TV in one package. It seems that this deal could make groundbreaking changes in the German telephone, internet and cable TV market.
